Wonderful cultural dining experience

Our tour guide not only showed us a great time, she was able to immerse us into the culture that was/is St. Thomas culturally. She was very knowledgeable and chose the perfect spots to stop for food. Would highly recommend this tour to other.

Great Time Killer

Gerard was great. We chose this tour on a Monday and a holiday AND the first storm they had in a while which made it difficult to find any place that was even open. He was very knowledgable and accomodating. I often do food tours and usually get a small bit of food but felt that I had a meal by the end. We even went back to one of the restaurants to ride out the rest of the rainy day. Good selection of foods combined with a history lesson. Great way to spend time before catching a plane, if your plane arrives...

The rum cake at MBW bakery, Shamus' chicken, rice & vegs, and the patte were all fabulous! I loved this tour and learned a lot.

Gerard was a wonderful host and great historian. Our group was small as one couple was a no show so it moved along quickly. The walking was limited so no fear about that. The food and drinks were wonderful and very filling. Just a great way to spend some time exploring.
Great Fun and good food!

My Husband and I had a great time with Jane! The history of the town and the places we visited on our tour was great. Really enjoyed the whole experience. Tour Date 12/14/2022
A real cultural and gastronomical treat

Jane was a marvelous guide and hasn't lost much of her South African accent in 23 years in St. Thomas. Her history made the island come alive and the snack stops were wonderful. There was only one other couple so it was like a private tour altho Jane said she did have a tour of 15. Nice to have some food/snacks that real residents would eat. Loved meeting Judith at the tea shop and had no idea of how far we ambled until done.

Our tour guide, Jane, was very helpful in getting us rebooked for a future date. Thanks again Jane. She really enjoys her job, was very knowledgeable about the history of St Thomas. The food was great ! I would recommend this tour.
Jenny was an excellent...

Jenny was an excellent guide: knowledgeable, affable, engaging and tireless! She brought the history of Charlotte Amalie alive and introduced us to the managers of the local restaurant scene. And the food was superb!
Best spent afternoon on the island for us

We loved this tour. We had not planned to even visit the town but we are glad we did and that we took this tour. We were lucky that it was just the two of us with the guide (Jane, I believe). She was engaging, relaxed, and inviting. It was super interesting to hear about life on the island etc. Judging by other reviews, some people seem to have expected more food tasting. For us it was perfect. We got a nice walk around the town with insightful and interesting historical tidbits by our guide. And we really appreciated the chance to see a few places that we would otherwise have missed (E’s garden tea house, for example, with a chance to taste her tea, her salted fish, and to hear Ms E’s interesting story; MWB bakery and its lively rum cake). We went to Glady’s and tried the rich Callalou (?) soup, and we finished with a drink (painkiller) at an old bar. All in all, compared with other excursions we made, this was the best
Amazing History and Food

Jennie was hands down amazing. I loved the history aspect of the tour. At each location we got to hear from the owners and their stories of the island and the food. It was special hearing directly from the owners about their inspiration and experiences. Jennie our tour guide was super fun and had a great personality, besides being very knowledgeable about the rich history of St. Thomas, she knew a lot about the surrounding island and their influence. I would recommend doing this tour during your visit in St. Thomas, you won’t be disappointed.
Great Cultural Day!

What a great way to experience some local food and drink while learning the history of the island. Our tour guide Jane was knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely engaged with all of her guests. I highly recommend taking a day off from the beach and jumping on this tour!!
Worthwhile St Thomas food tour

Jennie was very good as our guide. She allowed us to move along comfortably and explained places, food, traditions of St Thomas well.
So much more than a food tour!
cherylbJ1320FR, 05-02-2023
Jenny was a fun and informative food tour guide, introducing us to unique local food (callaloo soup, salt fish, artisan blended teas, meat pate and conch fritters, YUM) and to the wonderful people who prepared and served it. She shared stories of the island’s history and architecture (ask about the ballast bricks!), all with genuine care and respect for the people and culture of St. Thomas. Parking was available in the large lot between the Justice Building and Fort Christian on route 30, waterfront downtown Charlotte Amalie. We had no trouble finding Jenny at the main door of Fort Christian (faces inland). Don’t bother looking for a bright yellow shirt, just look for the person who looks ready to spend a great morning or afternoon with you!
Jane was a great tour guide

Jane told us the gusto of St Thomas as we walked to the different places that we ate. She was very knowledgeable of her town and the history of it
Walking History and Food Tour of Charlotte Amalie
William_D, 04-02-2023
Our guide, Jane Dicola, did a wonderful job of explaining the history of St Thomas while relating this to some of the foods of the island. Her presentation of the information and ability to relate to island visitors made this a pleasurable experience.
Well worth it

We really enjoyed the tour, food and drinks. I can't remember our tour guides name but she was really good at sharing details and making it interesting. I felt much more comfortable walking around Charlotte Amalie after getting the tour and becoming more familiar with the city.
